L2G: a definition
Listening to God is a
deliberate action on the part of a believer to tune into the still small voice of God. It consists of intentionally seeking to quiet down on the inside so that you can fully focus on Jesus,
binding all of the other voices and influences that interfere with
hearing in the name and authority of Jesus Christ, while petitioning God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to come and be preeminent in the heart and mind. After these steps of preparation, the seeker
specifically asks God to speak and then waits in silence for His communication.
Although God can
communicate with us in many different ways, experience has shown that He most
often speaks through the thoughts He brings into our minds or through pictures or images He brings. 60% to 65% of our population think in pictures or images (more women than men), so it’s not surprising that God would speak to
these picturesque people in their own language.
Set aside 15 to 20 minutes to spend alone with God in a place where you won't be disturbed. Turn off your cell phone. Prepare your heart for a time of listening to God through the guidelines at the end of the video. Or, for detailed guidelines go to Post # 46.
