Post # 4 WHOSE VOICE ARE YOU LISTENING TO?

We live in a culture with numerous voices vying for our attention.
a. There’s the voice of the world: “Have it your way” (Burger King) or “Can I supersize your order? How does the voice the world impact your life?
b. Then there’s the flesh with its’ passions and deceitful desires. “Take a second look, nobody’s watching” – or – “you deserve a bigger and better …”  The flesh is our constant companion! How often does your flesh control you and your choices?
c. There’s the devil.  In Scripture, he’s the father of lies (John 8:44), the accuser (Revelation 12:10), the tempter (Matthew 4:3), and the one we wrestle against (Ephesians 6:12). Do you spend a significant amount of time accusing yourself about how poorly you’re doing? Without realizing it, maybe you’re listening to the accuser.
d. How about your own understanding? Proverbs 3:5 warns us not to rely exclusively on this faculty, but to trust in the Lord. Why? Our understanding is the sum total of what the ups and downs of life has taught us. It’s defective at best.
e. How about the One True Voice – the voice of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.? We have a desperate need to listen to the voice of God. His is the voice of Truth (John 16:13). He always has our best long-term interest in mind.
