Which Way is the Wind Blowing in Your Life?

I often ask people if their life so far is turning out the way they thought it would. The answer is always that life has not gone according to their expectations.  Jesus expressed it this way in John 3:8: “You know well enough how the wind blows this way and that. You hear it rustling through the trees, but you have no idea where it comes from or where it’s headed next.”

Some of the twists and turns in my life have been and still are very painful. Others are like wonderful surprises that fill my heart with joy and wonderment. Watch this five-minute video and ponder the question: How has the wind been blowing in my life?

Lyrics "Which Way the Wind Blows"

Feel a Feeling
Say a Saying
But you'll still be lonely
If you think life is only for this moment

Do a Doing
Mourn a mourning
Still won't get you off your sorrow
So go ahead and cry, but you can't pry a look at
Tomorrow

You don't know which way the wind blows
So how can you plan tomorrow
You don't know which way the wind blows
So how can you plan tomorrow

Run a Running
Hide a Hiding
Whenever you hear the truth
And when you ask for the proof, you won't listen.
Listen

Praise a praising
Build a building
Trying to get peace into your life
And you don't even know wrong from right
Oh, Where is your wisdom

You don't know which way the wind blows
So how can you plan tomorrow
You don't know which way the wind blows
So how can you plan tomorrow

Die a dying
Resurrecting
By believing and receiving
Forgiveness from Jesus who took the sin from sinning

You don't know which way the wind blows
So how can you plan tomorrow
Jesus knows which way the wind blows
So how can you plan tomorrow

Believe Him and receive

You don't know which way the wind blows
So how can you plan tomorrow
You don't know which way the wind blows
So how can you plan tomorrow

  2. Hello Rusty,

Thank you for that post on mid-life crisis. I turned 40 in May and have been having one since September when my kids started school full-time. I know that the voice of the enemy is telling me that I haven't accomplished anything and that I need to go find a job to be productive. I have been enjoying my schedule and the way I can pick up the kids from the bus stop every single day and have dinner on the table.

One day I might get a part-time or full-time job. I listened to God and He is telling me to trust, obey, and be patient.

Thank you for making me feel not alone.
