Post # 56 – WINNING the BATTLE for the MIND

This weekend I had the privilege of attending a seminar on Spiritual Warfare given by Dr. Marcus Warner, President of Deeper Walk International.

Take a look at this passage we discussed:
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NASB).

Ever wonder how to go about taking every thought captive? There are so many areas of life where we may unwittingly believe lies about God and His true nature, about ourselves, and about our relationships with other. I’m not talking about knowing correct theological positions, but more about how we react down deep inside in our day-to-day life … especially when life isn’t going the way we want or expect it to.

Here’s a simple exercise I learned this weekend that I’d like you to try.  To prepare, ask God to still and quiet your heart. In the name and authority of the true Lord Jesus Christ who came in the flesh bind the enemy and command him to be silent and not interfere in any way. After you ask the question in the exercise, without editing, write down the very first thoughts that enter your mind. I think God may surprise you by what He reveals. In the prayer questions below, there’s a blank for the area you’ll be asking God about. Here are a few possible options to ask Him about:
·    Yourself
·    Your masculinity or femininity
·    Your true view of God
·    Your relationships
·    Your family
·    Your marriage
·    Other area of your choice

TAKING EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE

“Lord Jesus, please show me in words or pictures the lies Satan has been telling me about  _______________________."

Without editing, jot down your impressions on a piece of paper.

RENEWING THE MIND

In the same area you inquired about in the previous question, now ask:

“Lord Jesus, please show me in words or pictures the truth you want me to know about _______________________."

Without editing, jot down your impressions on a piece of paper.

Would love to know your experience with this exercise. Drop your feedback below or to L2G.Forum@gmail.com
