INCARNATIONAL REALITY

“On that day you will know that I am in the Father. You will know that you are in Me and I am in you” John 14:20 ERV

Jesus promises, I AM in you and you are IN ME. This is a form of incarnational reality that you and I are made to practice and enjoy TODAY. As Paul also said, It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me (Galatians 2:20).

Are you practicing the presence of Jesus in your life or merely living and relying on the limitations of self?  The practice of the presence of self leads to spiritual deadness, depression, anxiety, and worse. Proverbs 3:5 encourages us to not lean on the death trap of our self understanding. Only the practice of the presence of God can lead us into a dimension of life where the Spirit of Jesus can break us out of being imprisoned by the directives of our limited understanding.

Gregory Winfield writes: “In life, God is in our rear, front, and side mirrors continuously. If we could mark our minds to remember the presence of God in our lives, walking in the Spirit would be a piece of cake.”  Take a look at his excellent article “The Presence of God - How to Become More God Conscious.”

One essential aspect of practicing the presence of God is developing the habit of listening for the guiding voice of the Holy Spirit.  Why is this important? The self-voice is often negative, critical, self-absorbed, self-protective and limited by what all our painful life experiences have taught us. On the other hand, God’s voice is rooted in who HE is. He sees the big picture and can help us move into His world of limitless possibilities. He can reveal things to us we wouldn’t otherwise know and replace our human skepticism with a loftier picture that’s defined by His promises.

Look what God says to us in these two passages from The Message:
·      "God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us." Ephesians 3:20, and
·      "Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track." Proverbs 3:5-6.

If you aren’t practicing God’s presence, you’re robbing yourself of the very essence of what it means to walk with Jesus. So why not talk to God right now and ask Him for His help to begin to actively live in the reality that HE is in you and you are in Him … and commence the practice His presence right now.
